- Thursday, July 29 - Horsemen and women are invited to a ranch tour at Willow Creek Ranch, 27 miles south of Gordon and 5 miles east on July 29th at 5:30 PM. 11 yearlings were split into 2 feeding groups and you can view the difference at the ranch. Call 282-0717 for more information.
- Saturday, July 31 - the 2ND annual Heritage Celebration at Badlands National Park in Interior, SD is scheduled for Saturday, July 31st from 9:30 am to 11:00 PM. Activities will focus on traditional Native American songs, dances and crafts. Park admission is free for the event.
- Saturday, July 31 - Dylan Shanks and his Denver area band, Elucatine will hold a free concert at 7:30 Saturday night at the Gordon City Park. Take a lawn chair and give this technical-progressive metal band a chance to perform in front of a crowd.
- Monday, August 2 - A regularly scheduled meeting of the Sheridan County 4-H Council will be held Monday, August 2ND at 4 PM at the Sheridan County Fairgrounds in Gordon. Clean-up will follow from 5 to 8PM. If you have any questions please contact the Extension Office at 327-2312.

- Wednesday, August 4 - A FREE educational workshop entitled "Keeping the Farm in the Family" will be held Tuesday, August 10th at 9AM at the City of Gordon Building in the multi-purpose room. Participants will gain a basic understanding of how farm owners can secure their financial future, understand obstacles and develop a plan to smoothly transfer their business. - Saturday, August 7 - the Emergency Medical Services Program of the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services will offer a workshop on "Beating to the Rhythm of the Heart" for emergency medical technicians and first responders. The workshop will be held at the Hover Event Center at 2ND & Main in Valentine on Saturday, August 7th, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, CDT
- Monday, August 9 - The Gordon City Council will be meeting on Monday, August 9th at 6PM in the city council chambers. This meeting is open to the public. An agenda for the meeting is available for public inspection at the City Clerk Office at the City Hall.
- Friday, August 13 - The Sheridan County Fair Rocket Launch is now taking registrations for their upcoming event. The launch will be held on Friday, August 13th at the Gordon Fairgrounds beginning at 9AM. Anyone interested in bringing their rocket to launch during the event is encouraged to call Angel Bixby at 308-282-2536. There is no fee to enter or watch, so come join us for this fun event.
- Sunday, August 29 - The 10th Anniversary Ranchers Quarter Horse Breeders Association Horse Sale will be held Sunday, August 29th at the Seven Downs Arena near Spearfish, SD. Sale begins at 1PM.
- Tuesday, August 31 - Employer Training, focusing on Traumatic Brain Injury and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder will be held in Ashland NE on Tuesday, August 31st. Registration begins at 12:30PM. The Training will focus on retaining and hiring veterans, identifying the signs and symptoms of Brain Injury and PTSD and will offer resources and service for employers and employees. - The 2010 Sheridan County Museum Season is as follows: The Heritage Museum in Hay Springs will be open Thursdays and Fridays from 1 to 4PM. The Rushville Museum will be open Monday-Friday from 9 to 12 Noon and 2 to 8PM. The Gordon Cowboy Museum will be open Sunday through Saturday from 1PM to 5PM and the Scamahorn Museum in Gordon will be open Monday-Friday from 1 to 5PM. (This schedule is effective after Memorial Day and run until Labor Day)
- The Hudson-Meng Bison Kill Site, north of Crawford is now open through Labor Day. During the season Hudson-Meng staff will give tours and other learning opportunities for visitors in many areas of High Plains ecology. For more information call 308-665-3900.

- The Nebraska National Forests and Grasslands have extended the deadline for comment on the Samuel R. McKelvie Range Allotment Management Plan Draft Environmental Statement until August 1st. For further information contact Terry Baker at 308-533-2257.
- The Conservation Stewardship Program sign-up is currently underway. Nebraska landowners and operators still have time to sign up for the CSP at their local Natural Resources Conservation Service office for consideration of funding for the 2010 fiscal year. CSP applications are accepted on a continuous basis. Eligible land includes cropland, grassland, prairie, improved pastureland and agricultural land under the jurisdiction of an Indian Tribe.
- If you have a speeding ticket or other minor traffic violation, the STOP program may be the solution you are looking for. To take advantage of the STOP program in Sheridan County, individuals must register with 10 working days of receiving the ticket and complete the class within 45 days of receiving the ticket.
